Inspired by, though not necessarily meant to be an exact depiction of, Malicorne - a character from Charles de Lint's short story 'Seven for a Secret' which first appeared in 'Immortal Unicorn' and also appears in the anthology of Newford stories 'Moonlight and Vines'
